ByteShooter VAG EDC17/MED17 Boot Kit – No Soldering!

This kit allows you to connect your ByteShooter easily and comfortably to many types of VAG EDC17 /MED17 to read/write over boot mode.

The kit includes:

  • VAG EDC17/MED17 cable with boot pin (integrated 1kΩ resistor)
  • Universal MEDC17 tricore boot pin kit consisting of an ECU mounting plate and 2 x arms equipped with spring loaded boot pins. The arms are secured with high performance magnets ensuring no movement once aligned.

This kit provides a clean connection to ECU boot pads without soldering!

Simply connect your ByteShooter to the ECU with the cable provided, screw the plate to the control unit and align the boot pins with the corresponding pads on the ecu. Then power the ecu and you are ready to read/write!

 It is designed to work with controllers using TC1766 and TC1796 processor, this includes:

AMT Cartech have been developing flash tools since OBD tuning began, in fact they were responsible for developing the very first known OBD flasher “KWP2000”. The KWP2000 supported ecu’s using the Key Word Protocol 2000 as the name suggests!

Since then many new communication protocols arrived, so a new tool was needed and hence the Multi Protocol Programming System was born (MPPS).

The MPPS is a powerful programming tool. It offers general reading / writing operations and checksum support, however it also includes some additional features:

  • Excellent recovery functions. In some cases MPPS can recover ECU's which others tools can not even make communications with. On certain controllers it even works when with no program is present (a blank memory).
  • Selectable full / partial reading and writing when the ECU allows this function.
  • Selectable reading / writing speed.
  • Writing "changes only" function for faster programming (when supported by the ECU).
  • Auto detection of K-Line/CAN, and option to bypass and force preferred means of communication.
  • Temporary bypass of immobiliser to allow flashing on the bench on ME7 systems.
  • Boot mode support for ECU's with C167 and ST10 processors.
  • EEprom read/write functions for some ECU's are included.
  • VAG MEDC17 TPROT level checking without opening the ECU.

MPPS has no annual fees, or subscriptions. Updates are free!

MPPS covers a range of controllers including M3.8, M5.9, ME7xx, MED9, MED17, EDC15/16/17, Delphi, Siemens, Marelli, Delco, Sagem, Trionic and many others…

This module adds boot mode support for controllers with the tricore processor.

Features:

  • Auto detects ECU and processor type. No need to select from list, everything is automatic!

Magic Motorsport X17 VAG EDC17C46 Probe

This BDM Style probe allows reading/writing of VAG EDC17C46 control units without soldering.

No additional resistors or boot pins are required!

It connects directly to the OBD cable of the X17 tool. It can be used to read/write password over “OBD” communication and also to read/write the IROM/EEPROM memory over Boot Strap Loader mode by the flick of a switch. LED lights are fitted to the underside of the probe to aid alignment. An external power source is required to power the ECU (not included)

This kit includes the EDC17C46 probe and cable to connect to the X17 and power supply.

This BDM Style probe allows reading/writing of Continental SID208 / SID209 control units without soldering. No additional resistors or boot pins are required!

It handles all connections to the ecu and connects directly to the CMDFlash Boot Interface. It can be used to read/write the FLASH/EEPROM memory over Boot Strap Loader, also boot connections are switched to allow password reading.
